The Kingdom of Bahrain Participates in the GCC’s Third Ministerial Committee Meeting for Cybersecurity

The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the third Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee Meeting for Cybersecurity, held in Doha, State of Qatar. In attendance was H.E. Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, along with national officials and cybersecurity leaders from the GCC.

His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed AlKhalifa, CEO of the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), led the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation, commending the GCC’s accomplishments in cybersecurity, which have played a key role in driving economic development and advancing cybersecurity efforts. The CEO emphasized that these achievements further strengthen the council's role and elevate its stature both regionally and internationally.

H.E. Sheikh Salman expressed his gratitude for the Secretary General’s recognition of the GCC’s international cybersecurity achievements. The CEO highlighted that, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), five out of six GCC countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain, were classified as Tier 1 on the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) for 2024.

During the meeting, the ministerial committee reviewed and approved the committee’s cybersecurity outcomes and records, discussed action plans to strengthen international cybersecurity cooperation, and presented the GCC’s cybersecurity exercises aimed at enhancing regional preparedness. Additionally, the committee introduced a dedicated platform for the exchange of cyber threat intelligence. The session concluded with the launch of the GCC's cybersecurity strategy for 2024-2028.
