“Cyber Guardian” Wins First Place at the GCC Digital Government Award
The game “Cyber Guardian”, developed by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), has won first place in the Best Purposeful Digital Game (Individuals) category at the 2025 Digital Government Award for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The game “Cyber Guardian” received the award in recognition of its innovative application of gamification to enhance cybersecurity awareness. As the first national educational game of its kind in the region, it plays a key role in fostering a culture of cybersecurity and promoting safe digital practices among children aged 8 to 16. By combining entertainment with education, the game delivers an engaging learning experience that encourages critical thinking and safe decision-making within the digital environment.
According to the NCSC’s field evaluation, more than 90% of participants successfully completed the game. The findings showed improvement in participants’ awareness of cyber risks and their ability to distinguish between safe and unsafe online practices. The game also promoted digital responsibility among younger users, with its impact extending to households by encouraging parents to take an active role in reinforcing safe online behavior and supporting their children's daily internet use.
The NCSC affirmed that this achievement represents regional recognition of Bahrain’s efforts to harness digital innovation, in support of enhancing community awareness. It also reflects the Kingdom’s active contribution to advancing the collective digital transformation of GCC countries through initiatives that promote a culture of cybersecurity within society.
The GCC Digital Government Award is one of the most prominent regional initiatives aimed at honoring governmental innovation in the digital field and encouraging the exchange of expertise among GCC countries. The award includes nine main categories, including Best Government Digital Service, Best Government Comprehensive Application, and Best Purposeful Digital Game category, which recognizes educational or awareness projects with a social impact.
