Bahrain Participates in GCC–EU Cyber Diplomatic Dialogue
The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), the University of Bahrain (UoB), and the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology (NCST) participated in the Cyber Diplomatic Dialogue Roundtable between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Union (EU). The roundtable dialogue was held on the sidelines of the 2025 International Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on October 1-2.
Bahrain was represented by several experts and academics from leading national institutions. Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Mothanna, Director of Cyber Policy Directorate at the NCSC, participated in a session titled "Cyber Resilience – Strengthening Regional Cybersecurity Frameworks and Protecting Critical Infrastructure." During the session, Dr. Mohammed presented Bahrain’s efforts to enhance national cyber resilience through the development of governance frameworks and security policies, as well as the adoption of best practices for protecting critical infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the GCC and the EU to address shared cyber threats.
Dr. Abdulla Ahmed, Head of the Computer Science Department, represented the UoB in a session titled “Cybersecurity Challenges and Priorities in a Dynamic Technological Landscape.” Dr. Abdulla addressed the rapid technological transformation and its impact on cybersecurity priorities. He emphasized the importance of investing in scientific research and specialized education to develop national talent capable of safeguarding cyberspace amid an evolving digital environment.
Dr. Mussab Zeyad, Academic Vice Principal, represented the NCST in a session titled “Capacity Building – Bridging Gaps and Strengthening Cooperation.” During the session, Dr. Mussab emphasized the importance of developing national and regional capabilities in the field of cybersecurity through knowledge exchange, youth empowerment, and the enhancement of research and academic collaboration between the Kingdom of Bahrain and its regional and international partners.
This participation reflects Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening regional and international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity. It also aligns with the Kingdom’s broader strategy to build national capacity in response to growing technological challenges and to safeguard regional cyberspace. Bahrain’s active participation in the GCC–EU cyber diplomatic dialogue also reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to contributing to the development of regional and global cybersecurity agendas, and to supporting joint efforts aimed at enhancing the security and stability of the global cyber domain.
