Bahrain Participates in the Second Executive Office Meeting of the Arab Cybersecurity Minister Council
His Excellency Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed AlKhalifa, CEO of the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), represented the Kingdom of Bahrain in the second Executive Office meeting of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council. The meeting was held virtually with the participation of representatives from the Council’s member states.
The second meeting is part of the preparations for the second regular session of the Council, which is scheduled to be hosted in Riyadh at the end of September. The meeting discussed several items on its agenda and resulted in a series of decisions aimed at strengthening joint Arab efforts in the field of cybersecurity.
The key outcomes of the meeting included the approval of the Arab Cybersecurity Strategy draft, which aims to establish a secure and trusted Arab cyberspace, thereby contributing to greater growth and prosperity across the region. The Council also endorsed the mechanisms and procedures for admitting international organizations and similar entities as observers. Additionally, it agreed to join leading international cybersecurity organizations and bodies to enhance Arab representation in global cybersecurity platforms. Furthermore, the meeting approved the recommended agenda for the Council’s second regular session, ensuring it aligns with current regional and international developments in this critical sector.
The Arab Cybersecurity Minister Council consists of Arab ministers responsible for cybersecurity affairs and operates under the umbrella of the Arab League. Its responsibilities include formulating public policies, setting strategies and priorities aimed at advancing joint Arab efforts in cybersecurity, and addressing all cybersecurity matters and developments across security, economic, developmental, and legislative fields. The Council also approves joint Arab plans in cybersecurity to implement the policies and strategies it endorses.
